Re: 1965 CDN Cent ...Large Bead & Small

I would keep them in the original cellophane wrap, they are all red because it kept the air out. If you plan on putting them into flips and are using the staple kind, be careful not to puncture the cellophane doing so. Why do you want to put them in flips? It seems that they have survived just fine ...

Re: Looking for info on this coin

It’s called an off-centre error coin.

They sell for more than a regular coin, but condition is also a factor.

Re: Dremel and a penny

I was bored too...

Two things went through my mind after posting,

1. My joke was not funny (highly unlikely) :(

2. People were furiously searching for these coins

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I sure would. It’s a beauty. How long have you had it?

Re: Grading cents

You may be right coinguy, as I have never sent a coin to be graded. I am going by what I have read on PCGS about grading and colour, strike, surface, etc.

Re: Grading cents

A brown cent can still be graded ms70, the colour is designated after the grade. A full mint red cent will hold greater value with collectors because that’s how it looked when it left the mint. Look at your own collection, you will have far fewer, if any, red cents compared to brown, which makes the...

Re: 2012new toonie

In 2012 the mint changed the toonie from a solid nickel outer ring to a nickel plated steel ring, the core went from mostly solid copper to a brass plated aluminum bronze, with the change in composition they also added new security measures for it. They made both types for that year, with each havin...

Re: 1965 Canada Cent

Without it being a pointed 5, looks risky getting it graded, unless you’re sure of the grade beforehand. Can I ask how much they charged you?

Re: 1955 canada cent value?

When posting, try to limit yourself to one coin at a time, with a picture of both sides. Otherwise it becomes confusing what obverse goes with what reverse.

So I am guessing now that you have (2) 1955 SF that are worth a few cents each, and a 1953 NSF hanging 3 worth maybe a dollar.

Re: Dremel and a penny

You realize you’ve ruined the value of your highly sought after “die chip after T” 1985 cent and the rare “rocket on shoulder” 1981 Lincoln! Both now worth 1 penny each.

Re: 1996 Penny/Dime mutant coin. Help please?

I think we can safely assume it’s not a Canadian dime planchet because of the weight, but maybe it’s a foreign planchet struck by the Canadian mint. The mint has struck hundreds of millions of coins for other countries over many years, all with different weights and compositions. For example, Canada...

Re: 1888 Penny - cracked die or odd punch

I believe that all of the oddities you pointed out JJ, is damage caused by something hitting your coin after it has left the mint and not doubling or die cracks.
