Re: Denticles

Go ahead and google "denticle coins" and just go through the 100's of definitions from site posters during the last 20 years. Some pretty famous collectors have definitions there and some say that they've used the term for the last 30 years. To me, they are elements of the coin design to fill the di...

Re: 1943 Tombac

I think that it's just PMD, since the heavy scrape goes through both the fields and the design. It looks to me like something heavy and sharp started digging into the Reverse just to the right of the 9. It then carried on ENE through the design, carrying metal with it and deposited it on the "A".

Re: 1974 Canadian pennies, clipped and?

This particular discussion site gets very little traffic and many gurus or authorities don't frequent this place. I would suggest that you post your thread and images on Coin Community Family (CCF) in this Canadian section: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=139 I think that you ...

Re: Canada 5 cents 1891

Yes, they look like clashes .. I never saw them in your first posts. Examine the shape of the clashes .... they should be the mirror image of the knot/bow and ribbon at the end of the wreath at the bottom of the reverse. It's much easier to see with the coin in hand.

Re: Canada 5 cents 1891

As I put in the other forum that you posted in, what I see are not "clashes" ... it appears to be some die deterioration doubling and Mechanical/machine doubling; may even a few repunches.

Re: Canada 5 cents 1891 additional images

You should submit the images and verbiage to this Canadian site: https://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1891&years=5-cents-1858-1901 There's nothing like it in their error/variety section. That's a neat coin! It looks like mechanical or machine doubling(MD). Or could just be di...

Re: The Value of my Canadian Bill's....HELP???

I agree with GBELEC. I give bills like this to the paperboys/girls for Xmas or during their normal collection days. I also get 250 nickel dollars every year to give to the cart girls or waitresses at the golf course or our Monday morning breakfast place with friends. I donate small bags of older for...

Re: The Value of my Canadian Bill's....HELP???

for a bill collector, any fold, even where a corner was once turned over makes them quickly loose any value at all .. unless they are scarce to start with.

Yes, with any number of cleaners under the sink or commercial coin "cleaners". Silver tarnishes easily and this isn't shiny at all under the tarnish removal ... it's just white and probably scrubbed as well. They are neat coins and you should keep it just because it's almost 150 years old, but worth...

F-15 and heavily cleaned. Not worth a great deal ... a very common date and condition takes it down.

Re: Unreal.....

The initial post is 11 years old. You have to be sure what "currency" you are talking about, US or Canada. An idividual coin may have been graded or very high grade. Sets, especially from the RCM, are granny bait only.

Re: 1938 Canadian Dollar Die Crack

Die cracks are caused by malfunctioning in the manufacturing process (in this case cracked dies) and are errors, not varieties. Unless spectacular in some manner (huge, cuds, etc) they are worth little, if any, premium, and normally drop the value of the coin.
