Re: Wonderful hobby of World Paper Money

Very nice notes indeed...Question. Doesn't that 50,000 PESO Mexico note equal about $3,000 Canadian dollars ?
Am I missing something ?
cheers

Re: Wonderful hobby of World Paper Money

Hi Folks Some very nice notes shown here. Yes, some of the Caribbean notes are quite beautiful. Got into World notes a few years ago. Like the older notes because I can appreciate the quality considering the limited printing technology back then. Here's a few notes you might appreciate...hope they l...

Re: Need help for value of these coins

No problem. They are very nice visual pieces regardless of any great value or not. That's what a lot of it is all about for me.... By the way, I just noticed, your 2005P Alberta 25c is in fact a coin minted for circulation according to the NGC holder. There is no price listed for MS67 as there are no...

Re: Need help for value of these coins

Being that these coins were removed from Brilliant uncirculated (BUNC) / Prooflike sets, they were never meant for circulation & were struck & packaged specifically for collectors. You might want to look at the "PL" values on this site for values. There are good descriptions on this site explaining ...

Re: Does anyone know about these medals?

Don't know about the "Victoria" piece, but the King George V piece is a medal that was in fact presented to dignitaries & members of the Military in 1935. ....You can read all about it in the Canada Government link that is attached to this email. And yes it is Sterling Silver ( 92.5%) https://www.ve...

Re: Does anyone know about these medals?

For The Victoria 60th Year, not sure.... Many different types were made back in the day. Can't find this one.
That hole was definitely punched afterwards & is technically damage. The whole poor quality of the die / strike lends to the possibility of some locally short run strike ?

For the George V medal on top, go to this link below..

Re: 10 cent 1989 date error

I wouldn't call this an error. A variety perhaps. It is not a recognised variety according to the price book on this site ( yet anyway..). If it is a variety, value depends on how many are out there & condition. With a mintage of 198 million, it could be common... Or maybe not...More investigation i...

Re: From 1981 onward - Uncirculated Sets

Some good points and observations above. But as noted, this is part of the reason this hobby has trouble getting young people & new collectors in general. Too convoluted a system.....uncirculated, brilliant uncirculated, numismatic brilliant uncirculated, proof-like, proof, specimen, etc.... I saw a...

Re: Grading Banknotes

"Original" on a graded banknote means that the note has not been altered or tampered with in any way. Notes that are not given that designation have been pressed or something to appear a better grade than they really are BCS uses the "Original" designation on their notes....PMG uses "Exceptional Pap...
