Is the other side gold or silver.
It looks like it has toned a gold colour which is possible
depending on the environment. It should have been silver
when it left the RCM. I have some 50 cent silver coins that
have toned a nice gold on one side.

Re: 2000 knowledge error
Yes, It is a small Die Chip which are fairly common. Also Die Chips are not an error.
There would probably be thousands more like this out there, depending on when they
pulled the die from service.
Maybe you could give it a name like the 1996 Die Chip "Cigar" or "Horn"

Agree with Bill
Looks like a Partial Grease Filled Die.
You can faintly see the outline of the "N"

Great find!
That is a Province of Canada 20 cent coin that was only issued in 1858.
Even in that condition it should be worth over $100.00

Re: gold colored 1979 quarter
Welcome to the forum.
Can’t get your picture to download but if your quarter is gold coloured,
it would be plated after it left the mint by a third party. Not really any
extra value except as a novelty coin.

They are uncirculated business strikes.
The last proof- like coins were issued in 1967
They look like RCM packaging.

Re: January 25 cents 1999 Error
Sorry then, I thought the marks were incuse. The only other things I can think of are Die Chips or a Die Gouge. They don’t look like Die Chips so possibly a Die Gouge but there would be others around if that was the case. Maybe someone else has an answer. Also FYI Coins are not printed, they are str...

You can call it damage. It wasn’t on there when the coin was struck.
It has taken a hit from something.

Re: Bank note value
There is some value in them, especially the Twenty.
The problem is trying to find a buyer as they are in such poor shape.

Looks like some sort of chemical smeared it.
Maybe some one was trying to remove it.

Re: Identification help (Canadian coins)
Not from the Mint.
Whatever happened to it happened after it left the mint so it would be
considered damage. A 24 hr soak in Acetone ( not nail polish remover)
may remove it.

Re: Two questions re Charlton catalogue (French) 2021
That is up to you George. I’m not sure what type of sets you are putting together. This Toonie was not released as a business strike and usually the only way to obtain it is to buy the set. I would still keep it though but if you want all the sets the same, you might not be able to obtain 3 more wit...

It would also help if you stated where you are from. There might be someone in your area that could help.

Bill
I think the OP is referring to the Polar Bear Toonie W mm that was put in the Brilliant Uncirculated Sets
in 1998 and 2000. It seems that someone has broken open one of the sets and circulated the Toonie.
