If I'm right.. I think it's 100% nickle up to 1981....

I haven't CRH'ed nickles yet... I'm waiting to see if my bid on a lot of nickles from 1880 - 1920 nickels wins.. if so... I will then be buying a few boxes of nickles to fill in some dates.. never thought to pick up nickles for the metal content.....

Makes me wonder what a nickle dollar or 50 cent piece would go for...

Indeed I do.
This past winter was so damn long I took to searching 10 rolls or so at a time for a 2000P. 20 maybe 30 rolls or more a week. I kept all the pre-82 nickels. How can you not save them?

The initial ratio of pure nickel 5c from area banks was about 13% iirc, as high as 15% or more in some rolls. After a couple months I was hard pressed to scoop 7% or so. I presumed Ottawa was roll searching too!

In the end I found my 2000P. Only a single specimen at that, yet it wasn't a dog but a good MS grade with not a scratch nor ding. I can hardly believe my dumb luck. Along the way I also found Unc's of various years and a few odd ducks like a VF 1962 with a good strong double date as an example.

Cheers

Be on the lookout for:

2001P Bugtails
There's info in a thread in the French forum on them. I found a half dozen of these.
Chances are they may have die chips in the date as well.

2000 (no P) Bugbacks
3 or 4 I think I found. Die chips in the fur on the hump and down onto his rump.

TiP: first learn how to view the 77s and 96s to easily differeniate between the highs and lows, and the nears and fars. It will save time and frustration if you figure it all out at the start.

So happy searching.
I expect a full report to be be on my desk by Tuesday AM sharp! :Rechercher:

Cheers

P.S. I never did find a 2013 in all those rolls but since have come across 2 in my change. It would be interesting to find out what the populations of them are in different regions. Prairies here.

Sir yes SIR!

Dissapointed... I didn't end up getting the nickles in the auction.. 66 pcs nickels Victoria and George V issues...

I did manage to pick up 55 dimes... dated 1910 to 1936... hopefully there's some nice pieces in there...

As for the CRH the nickels... I may pick up a few boxes tomorrow.. If I get enough work on the basement (doing a full remodel) done on Saturday I may flip through a few coins on the Sunday..

I'm already looking forward too it!! Woot Woot!!
