1861 New Brunswick 1/2 Cent Proof

Post by A-10 » Sun Dec 19, 2021 12:32 am

I have had this 1861 New Brunswick 1/2 Cent Proof for a while. I've tried to find more about it by contacting various museums, such as the Museum of Victoria in Australia. Which it looks like they have one, but they cannot tell me much about it. I'm curious in knowing the mintages, and the survival rate of the proofs and possible values based off of last auctions. I don't plan on selling it but would just like to know more about it.

As the 1/2 cent was produced by mistake and the majority melted by the mint,
it would be virtually impossible to tell how many Specimen Proofs and business strikes
survived. As far as price, I would check the auctions and see what they are selling for.
I imagine yours would be in the 4 figure range.
