there is a link on this chain of replies that takes you to a numista webpage that claims under the comments section that the 1966 bahamas quarter was minted in 66.67.68 and 69
could this be true?
i always understood that coins were only minted in the year on the coin

I have come across this a few times in collecting world coins. I came to understand that with some countries there seems to be such small need for coins that they don't mint a new one each year, just make more of the same from a previous year. They are usually fairly lower mintage numbers for these types. Can't think of one off the top of my head, but they are out there.
