Accurate evaluation?

Post by NickB » Thu Jan 09, 2025 3:41 pm

Hello everyone,

I sent an estimate request to a store that buys coins, and I just want to make sure that i'm not getting false info.

I got a sert of 28 coins of the 1980 USSR Olympics in silver .900. I'm being told that these are worth the value of .900 silver. I thought that it would be a bit more myself, considering it (at least!) comes with the case and all

Anyway, I attached some pictures and your opinions are welcomed.

Thank you very much for your time.

I have never seen that set before so I cannot give you a value but I can say that if you are trying to sell to a dealer, they will give you about 50-60% of the true value as they have to make a profit too. The problem with selling
something like this is that there is not a big market for it except for its silver. Maybe you could try ebay and
list for what you think is fair and put "or best offer" on the listing and see what happens.

Well, I have the same set, so I'm curious as well. I forget where I got it or what I paid, but it goes with my other Olympic sets.
Here's a link to what's on Ebay now. My set is 28 coins proof.
Woops, I forgot the link: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=19 ... &_osacat=0

As for me, it's an inheritance from my grandfather that bought it initially...

Thanks for the replies, i'll wait and see and if I get more info, i'll post it here.
