1982 D small date ...Copper... maybe..

Post by Canadian_ice » Sun Jan 03, 2021 8:49 pm

I’m going to have to get another gram scale, but it’s showing me 3grams, I also bounced it on solid metal, it gave me a sort of ting, as apposed to the other years I tested 1983-2010 , which had a more dull tone, I’m still not convinced yet though, any thoughts...

Jonathan.

Your going to have to get a scale that goes to two decimal points and we need a closeup of the coin.
Hard to tell with that small picture.

To me that looks like because of the rough surface that it may be copper plated zinc coin.
You are going to have to weigh it with a scale that goes to two decimal points as there are tolerances on the
cents that have to be taken into consideration.

I cheated it and just bought a set like this and broke it up to fill the book. See https://iccoin.com/u-s-1982-lincoln-ce ... d/#gallery

I do have 1982-D but weight is 2.9g sometimes 3.0g l tried many times and resets my scale still 2.9g and lm not sure yet but it looks like copper plated zinc those 1 l have, l think lts a great idea to use the 2 decimal scale instead the one we are using..
