1993 Brass coloured penny

Hello Everyone.
I found this brass (gold) coloured penny in my change. Looks like it's plated. It weighs 2.48g and is not magnetic.
Has anyone any idea how it became brass coloured.

Welcome to the forum.

It does look plated. Have seen them plated in many colours as an aftermarket promotion.
Technically it is considered damage to the coin.
