Hi, I recently bought a 1958 half dollar and I noticed a dot under the last "A" in canada. Can anyone tell me the rarity of this type of strike? Also any idea of coin grade/value would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

That dot is actually a die chip that for some reason has some premium attached to it
depending on grade. It is known as a 1958 dot but is not rare.
Hard to grade your coin with the pictures supplied as the Obverse has too much glare.

Thank you for your help coinguy.
I have attached some more pictures of the obverse should you decide to take a look at the grade. Hopefully these give a better idea of the condition of the obverse.

I would grade it at AU from pictures supplied.

Yes, I think high AU. Not many people will pay more for a die chip ... they may take off $$$.

Interesting! I’ll have to keep that in mind because I was under the impression that the die chip made it more rare/valuable. Thank you for your help :)

Most dealers have this 1958 50c ‘Dot’ in stock. They charge a small premium as this is a recognized ‘variety’. It is Certainly not ‘rare’
