1945 Canadian half dollar near & far 5.

I have multiple 1945 half dollar coins and have noticed the just like 1944, 1943, and 1941 the distance between the last number in this case there is a near & far 5.

That is because the last two numbers where hand punched into the die. With each die, the location would be slightly different. You could have a near, medium, far, high, low, depending on where the mint worker punched it. As there would have been approximately the same amount of coins from each strike, the value would be about the same no matter where it is located.This applies to all years between 1941 and 1952 so there were probably hundreds of different varieties of Kings George VI 50 cents made.
