This CANADA 50 cents 1872 H imaged below, appears to exhibit doubled letters and numerals, etc., on the same subject coin. They appear to be shown in the pages of C&C as single items.
They are as follows:
Obverse- ‘A’ of ‘REGINA’ doubled (red arrows). To this eye there appears to be some evidence of other letters punched and erased (sky blue arrows showing 'ghost' of an 'A'-but this may be wishful thinking), ‘D’ of CANADA’ doubled, & absent an upper left serif of the lower ‘D’. In addition, at this die state of the obverse, the coin appears to exhibit a somewhat ellipsoidal raised dot above and between the ‘DE’ of ‘DEI’.
Canada 50 Cents, 1872 H variety?
Re: Canada 50 Cents, 1872 H variety?
Reverse- The ‘5’ appears doubled at the inside top right and inside right of the loop. The ‘S’ appears doubled at the upper right serif and inside top of the upper loop. It also appears doubled at the inside top of the lower loop. The ‘2’ exhibits doubling at the inside top and left of the loop along with doubling at the bottom of the ‘Ball’.
New variety? Probably not likely...but all thoughts welcome.
