2011 $5 Canadian gold 1/10 ounce maple leaf DDO.

Good morning guys, so back in May, I posted photos of a $5 gold bullion coin, I was looking for information on. So let me explain a little. Well a year ago last March, I sent the coin in for grading, and authentication. It came back graded, NGC $5 gold Canadian maple MS 67. Then I started looking for any information, I could get about the coin.

I new it was a DDO, but I had not sent it in for Attribution, to be honest, I was a little concerned about it coming back straight graded again. There is no information on this coin, in any of the CPG'S, or auction houses, or TPG'S. I was afraid they wouldn't attribute it.

Well in August this year, I finally just bit the bullet, and sent it in for Attribution, and it came back DDO. I was ecstatic, and so now, I am trying to get the information out there, that now, there is a Gold Canadian maple leaf DDO, to match the 1986 Gold American Eagle DDR.

I know it's not the greatest news, that has come along in the numismatic communities, but for a modern Gold variety coin, to have escape the mint, with all the levels of QA (Quality Assurance) That these coins go thru, it is a miracle in its self. I have not seen it first hand, but I have seen videos and read articles. Every time these coins move, from station to station, they go through quality processes. They say it's not impossible, and the coins prove that, but they say, it's as close to impossible as there can be.

So for it to happen at two different mints, I don't own the gold eagle, but that would make a great pair of coins to have in any collection. Anyway enough rambling, so here is the end result.
