Error coin

Post by kladek01 » Fri Dec 16, 2022 8:46 am

How would this error be classified? I have numerous examples of this error on 2001 dimes and 2002 quarters. The error locations are very consistent on both coins. On the quarter obverse, the line from the crown to the rim is always present. I have more pictures if needed.

From a coin counter or coin roller? It didn't happen during the minting process, so not really an error.

Just in change. Some came from a bank roll... Here is another example with more lines.

This is not from a coin roller or counter. All coins do not enter the device the same way, all of the quarters have one mark in common - from the crown to the rim. Other coins may have more marks and they are always in the same locations. I probably have 20+ coins with similar markings.

Not an error.
Die deterioration.
Very common on turn of the century 10 cent and 25 cent coins.
