1954 cdn 1 dollar bill no serial number. i have several 1954 bills with serial numbers. the pictures are of where the serial number should be. when i compared several bills there was no difference.

There are two possibilities.
It is either a printing error or it has been intentionally removed to deceive collectors.
The only way to be sure is to have it authenticated and I don't think it can be authenticated once it has been circulated. You could always check though as it would be worth the cost if it is genuine.

I have one with the serial number missing as well.

I asked Steve at BCS about grading it but he declined.

You might try Louis at CCCS or Jason at Legacy.

Certainly looks unusual. Perhaps a little faded...implying the numbers have been removed. How does the back look?

From what I know, the serials on this serie are easy to erase. As coinguy told, the only best way to sell it (if genuine), is to get it certified. Most buyers will need it authenticated for obvious reasons.

hi, i have recently seen the same thing on a 1954 $2 note at a local market. the first thing i noticed when i held it was it had a light chemical smell almost like bleach, not the "normal paper smell" when i looked at it with better light, you could see fading around where the numbers should be that was not consistant with the rest of the note. be carefull there, Happy hunting.

Here is another one, picked up this week, it's very rough, but not ripped. The right side is faded bad, but the microprinting on the left is showing no signs of tampering, had a few of these over the years, the bill in the earlier post appears to look genuine to me.I will likely submit this one to buy and sell section.
