EXACTLY! Then why keep them?? I never said I collected anything. I just wanted to know what the bank does with old banknotes.papermoneyguy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 4:35 pmI cannot speak for your US coin but your comment is far from reality
Just because something is removed from circulation does not make others more valuable
If an item is not in demand regardless of how many are removed the price will not increase There needs to be a demand that outweighs the supply or a scarcity.
Nobody in their right mind would collect coins, banknotes, stamps, cars or even barbed wire and never wonder what their value is. If I wanted to collect shiny things just because I loved the way they look or feel I wouldn't start buying up old coins, I'd collect free scrap metal instead. Show any coin or bill collection to anyone and the first thing they'll ask is, "so is it worth anything?" After inheriting boxes and boxes of stamps the first thing I did was look through them all for anything of value like an upside down plane (nothing!), after that I took them to the post office and converted them into new stamps.
