2001 Specimen dime error

Post by GuyL » Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:05 pm

I have this 2001 specimen dime with an obvious off-center stamp error. Is this common? I did not see this reported anywhere and as this is a dime from a Specimen set, even rarer to find.. any input would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

Hard to tell if it is a slight off centre strike or a misaligned die when you only show one side
(Always show both sides when posting) but in either case unless it runs off the edge, it would
still be within spec and not considered an error.

I didn't show the other side only because it appears to be aligned properly. Thanks - in future I will post both sides (makes sense).

Showing the other side confirms that it is a misaligned die (MAD) which only shows on one side.
If it was a off centre strike, it would show the same on both sides.
