Hi,
I've recently inherited a lot of coins (nickels, dimes, quarters, 50 cent pieces, silver dollars) from 1969 and earlier. Some are in mint condition (sets from the banks years ago), others great condition, and some are worn. I've read through posts and have sorted the coins by dates. I've looked at the pictures on the website and think I have some valuable ones but am unsure. Any advice what my next steps should be? Thank you.

Re: Coins from 1969 and earlier
Welcome to Coins and Canada
Seems like you have a project ahead of you. If you are looking at selling them, don’t
be in a hurry until you know what you have.
If you were to post a clear photo of both sides of a couple of your coins that you think
might have value, someone here will be able to at least start you on the right direction.
Any of your silver coins of course would be worth at least bullion value.
Also you didn’t give your location, we might be able to recommend someone in your area that
can help if we did.

Re: Coins from 1969 and earlier
You need to separate your coins, except the one and 5 cents into those 1919 and before, because those are .925 silver and those before 1968 are .800 silver. For coins from 1920 to 1967, each face dollar, of whatever denomination, has .600 troy ounces of silver. Just take the scrap silver price and multiply by .6 and you will have what each face dollar is worth in US dollars. Then you'll have to convert from US to Canadian (about 1.26). But those 1919 and before are sterling silver at .925.

Re: Coins from 1969 and earlier
Hi, thank you for the advice. The 1940's quarters aren't as valuable as I thought they might be. I have a number of 1800s half pennies, old 1800s bank token coins, etc. so I'll keep looking through the website and post a few pics if I find something I think might be noteworthy. I am in Scarborough or can Brampton if you recommend anyone. Thanks for your support.
