Hi there,
I am having trouble identifying the coin variety. I’m guessing double large H but there are no real conclusive pictures for me to compare it to. It looks like it has some doubling at the bottom left of the H. There is also a pretty large crack starting at the bow and rising past the one in the date to the A of Canada to the Cent. There is a small crack under the zero of the date.
There is also damage to the date and lettering but I'm assuming that is post mint.
Thanks
Craig

Re: 1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
I am having a hard time seeing any doubling. But that's a nice die break!
Re: 1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
I think your correct in saying its a doubled H, it looks like its doubled to me also, there is a picture of one in the Charlton Catalogue for Canadian Coins. Small H over Small (SH/H).
The die cracks are useful for Die Trackers tracking the different stages the coin die goes through as to when the die crack started to occur to its end of use for circulation. Also to help identify certain varieties very useful and accurate info when searching especially the 1858 + 1859 Canadian large cents

Not sure how you can call this a double H. But OK.

Re: 1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
I think a person would need the coin in hand as your last picture doesn't look doubled
Re: 1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
I’m sorry, my camera is clearly not as good as yours. I am using an iPhone and a flashlight through a loupe.
Anyway, if you look at the bottom left you can see two black lines.
I’m including a few more pictures with different light angles. In these pictures you can see both the glisten on one side and shadow on the other double.
I really just wanted to know if it was a small or large H
Ps i didnt rotate the pictures this time because i am lazy :p
