I see these for sale/auctions on on ebay, but not much mention elsewhere.
Can anyone comment on their value, or any other interesting or useful information regarding these “bills”?

Are you sure that it's spelled "Carleton" Now there's some fake TV show Brit bills/notes with Carlton. Are you talking about "Dominion of Canada" bank notes? .... like shinplasters and 1,2 or 5 dollar ones?

By reading the description, those are advertising notes and not from the early 1900’s.
Also it is not a Bank, it reads you can Bank ON Carling, possibly some sort of self promotional gimmick.
The only value I see is as a novelty note, similar to the Trump notes, but there may some who collect these.

Re: Bank on Carleton
I sent the seller an email that it's an advertising piece from Carling beer, probably from 1940 (100 year anniversary).
If you search eBay for "carling 100 per cent" you will find some more of these notes/bills with a different person on it. 1840 was the year that Carling beer started. The pics on the bills must be either the CEO or owner of a pub where these were given away.
