Pics Wanted: 1955 ARN. no DB

Post by I can get you a coin » Fri Jun 07, 2024 9:12 pm

Hello all, I am asking if any owner of a 1955 ARNPRIOR no Die Break attributed as such by a grading company if they would be so kind as to show closeup images of the waterline area. I have two coins in question and at one angle, they look exactly like every other one online. But if you hold these coins at the right angle, the waterlines are extremely faint but can be detected. I'm wondering to see if that counts or not.

No picture needed, yes that would count as a waterline if it is touching the canoe.
A true Arnprior has 2 1/2 waterlines with no sign of the waterline touching the canoe.
The 1955 Arnpriors were all struck from the same die so they would all be the same.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I never want to misrepresent my coins. I appreciate the insight of someone who knows the characteristics of a true Arnprior die. Online pictures and descriptions leave it ambiguous as to what counts and what doesn't. But if the requirement is that there is no trace of them left, then mine falls short of the mark.

I think part of the problem is that the 1955 2 1/2 waterline is the only true Arnprior whereas other years
that have 2 1/2 waterlines caused by die die polishing even though they can be longer are still called
Arnpriors even though this is technically incorrect.
If you look under Canadian Coins on this site, you will notice that 1955 is the only year that an Arnprior
is recognized in the listings.
