Is this a new 1897/7 or just wishful thinking? Appears to have surface doubling on the crossbar and doubling on the serif. Find images below.

Looks more like damage.
If it was a DD, the 7 would be larger. There is a repunched 7 that year but that is not it.

Appears it was just wishful thinking. Thought to try for honorable mention with images of the die cracks and breaks associated with the reverse. See images below...

As stated above, there at least 2 nice 7/7's and at least one 97/97, but yours are not it. You have highlighted some die cracks and they are common for the year and no prmium.

Not a 7/7 die. The one you have is paired to at least 3 obverse dies (but possibly 4 depending on one's REGINA marker assessment) and is the reverse with the most pairings of all six 1897 reverses.
