I think I found doubling

Post by debnak1705 » Mon Sep 09, 2024 6:59 pm

I do believe I found some doubling on the 2022 Oscar Peterson Looney. There were several that came out of the role with varying degrees of how many letters show Doubling

I think either die deterioration doubling or Mechanical, neither of which put the coin at any premium.

Looks like a double die (DDO), with the serif notch.

Looks like minor Doubling.
In the future, please do not use screen shots, they are too pixilated to see fine detail properly.

We have to make a distinction between all kind of doublings.

The main ones are:
1- Machine doubling
2- Die Deterioration Doubling
3- Double die

For the actual coin the notch on the serif point out to the Double Die.

Sometime certification services services doesn't make the difference.
It's quite important since the origine of these 3 types of doubling are completely different.
