I'd say die deterioration doubling (DDD).

100% genuine doubled die, deterioration cannot produce split serifs and notching.
The first hubbing impression when the working punch was hubbed to create the working die was fully sunken in, so when the second hubbing impression happened it was slightly rotated and was not fully sunken into the working die.
Long story short, theres zero doubt that this is a doubled die.

I didn't see any of the "classic" notching and was first going to say MD, but was too extensive all around the coin.

The first hubbing impression when the working punch was hubbed to create the working die was fully sunken in, so when the second hubbing impression happened it was slightly rotated and was not fully sunken into the working die.
The single squeeze method of hubbing has been in use for over 40 years now.
Long story short, your creation theory could not have happened.

There isn't, as far as I know, a 2013 DDO, as TBH has explained above. You are not going to get any hub-doubling as you describe because the minting process makes it impossible. If you are getting your info from this CoinsandCanada site, then that's where the bum info is coming from. CaC allows any member to name or describe any error or variety they want and have it listed with their photos. That has led to a great deal of bad and misleading information because newbies or the unaware folks just call anything that has any doubling as DDO or DDR. There are many many different causes of seeing something doubled, or even tripled

I've never heard of "doubling" referred to as a serif, but i guess it could be.

What the OP is referring to as a serif, isn't. There are no serifs on the font used for the twonie, so there are no split serifs. There is some doubling but it's due to either die deterioration doubling or mechanical/machine doubling. You can not use the "variety" section of this website to accurately identify what the error/variety is and what it's properly called. The photography of some of the lettering is misleading (especially the D)because of the excess lighting and angle of the photo. The OP can label or call the coin whatever he wants on his holders or pics, but it's not DDO.

How can cac claim a variety or error exists, when there is no description or picture available. I find that troubling also.
