NBU (Brilliant uncirculated): Coins not intended for circulation struck and sold by the Mint in a special package despite the fact that their composition is identical to the coins produced for circulation. Starting in 1977, third party grading companies, among other references, started to replace PL term by NBU. If these coins have been removed from their protective envelope or original package, it is harder to differentiate them from circulated coins.

Specimen coins are struck up to two times on numismatic presses.

This 25-cents coin was sold with an information card. Here's the text inside the information card:
In the 1678, the Hudson's Bay Company's new coat of arms featured two moose and four beavers separated by a red St. George's cross. About the same time, Louis de Buade, comtee de Frontenac, then Governor of New France, proposed that the beaver be included in the armorial bearings of Quebec City. Yet it was only after Sir Sanford Fleming featured the beaver on the first Three Penny Beaver stamp in 1851 that it became a true Canadian symbol. And on March 24, 1975 the beaver was formally adopted as a symbol of the sovereignty of Canada by Royal assent. Today the beaver is recognized around the world as a Canadian emblem for peace, trust and integrity.
