#1 - $11,950 - 1820 Northwest Company - NGC VF Details

1820 Northwest Company

This token was slabbed with the Environmental Damage description which is the result of a hostile storage environment, where the exact cause of the surface damage is indeterminable. A similar token was also at rank #1 last year.

#3 - $7,700 - 1/2 penny 1838 - Bank of Montreal - PCGS MS-63

1/2 penny 1838 - Bank of Montreal Token

This token has already been in the John J. Ford Collection. In 1830s, the Bank of Montreal, the Quebec Bank, the City Bank and La Banque du Peuple were given authority to issue penny and halfpenny tokens of a weight similar to that of British copper coins.

#4 - $5,975 - Weir & Larminie - CCCS AU-50

 Weir & Larminie

Issued towards the end of the year 1862, by a firm of exchange brokers, of which the head of the firm, Mr. Wm. Weir, was the President and General Manager of La Banque Ville Marie, at Montreal. When specie payment was suspended in the United States, the people found it so difficult to get change that they had stamps encased. This token has already been in the John J. Ford Collection.

#6 - $4,480 - Ships Colonies & Commerce - ICCS VF-20

Ships Colonies & Commerce

This token was described as:

Unpriced in Charlton. Excessively rare, Called the Langstroth Variety, it's been called "unquestionably one of the greatest rarities" by Faulkner after Lees 18.

A Lees 22 ICCS VF-30 example also sold for $3,883.75, a Lees 25 ICCS F-12 for $3,120 and a Lees 33 PCGS AU-50 for $3,000.
